Help for New Orleans Finally Shows Up
Wow! What a relief. It looks like the storm survivors in New Orleans are finally getting help in the form of National Guard convoys of food and water. The beleaguered people at the Superdome, who have spent the last four days without food or water, appear to be relieved, but angry at the delay in help reaching them. I can’t say that I blame them. I’m sure many horrifying stories will come out before this national disaster is over.
I am so thankful that my sister–in–law, who has been attending the University of New Orleans for the past year, evacuated with friends and her visiting sister to Dallas, Texas in the days preceding Hurricane Katrina’s smashing into the area. Although this throws her final year of school into chaos, at least she is home safe and sound in San Diego with her family. My heart goes out to those who have not been so fortunate.
