Goddammit this makes me mad! Bush and his ideas get trounced in the November elections and he does this? Way to “stay the course”, you village idiot. It’s too bad this will mean many, many more deaths in Iraq, and for what? President Bush, are you using Viet Nam as your script?

In contrast, read the creative ideas of peace groups and members of Congress to extricate the US from this shameful conflict.

Well, it appears America has woke up and decided enough is enough with the Bush regime, the war, and the current political landscape. The Democrats have the House, and possibly the Senate, Bush is appearing less dismissive of everyone non–Republican, and Donald Rumsfeld is outta here. Will wonders ever cease? What heartens me even more is that the youth vote (under 30) turned out in greater numbers than at any time in the last twenty years. Cool! I guess there’s hope for us yet!

Now the Democrats main focus should be to repeal some of the laws Bush passed that trampled on our civil rights and American way of life. Will they come up with some forward–looking policies instead of just look for “a way not to lose an election?” Time will tell. Democrats, get it in gear, or we’ll find someone else to do the job!!

Whatever you think about Schwarzenegger as governor, at least he’s taking global warming seriously! His letter to Bush complaining about the federal government’s lack of a coherent policy to stop global warming warms my heart. (Actually, “coherent” and “Bush” in the same sentence is not something I would normally expect to write, but that’s another story…)

Just one day after the fifth anniversary of 9/11, I found this article stating that more Americans have died in Iraq than died on that day. Has Bush and our government’s rush to war really gained us anything since then, other than loss of life? I can’t think of one.

And if we consider Iraqi civilians (yes, I said civilians, just like you and me!), we must add the following death statistics: (taken from IraqBodyCount.net )

That is 44,875 deaths, all sparked by an action that Iraq had nothing to do with!! And President Bush still wants us to “stay the course” with the war!!
